Robert Loughnan is a Chartered Engineer, a Fellow of the Institution of Engineering and Technologists and a Member of the Royal Aeronautical Society.
Robert has assisted a very wide range of businesses and organisations to develop and commercialise new ideas. He has a management background with manufacturing companies and service sector businesses in New Zealand and extensive national and international marketing experience. He has worked with businesses throughout New Zealand and in Europe, North America and Asia.
A fascination with the process of innovation and complete faith in kiwi ingenuity has lead Robert to focus on working with businesses that are introducing innovative products, processes or systems. He assists with strategic alliance development, organisational review, change management, general marketing and promotion, feasibility studies, the locating of funding for research and business expansion and the introduction of systems of management. He has a range of contacts in the commercial sector throughout New Zealand.

As a director of SMEi Services Ltd, Robert brings his extensive experience in the field of product development and international marketing to the aid of New Zealand companies wishing to develop and protect their Intellectual Property rights with the ultimate objective of successfully commercialising their ideas and obtaining international investors or venture capital funding.
Loughnan Consulting Ltd Principal
Robert is the principal partner in Loughnan Consulting Ltd. He undertook his first major consulting role in 1973 when he worked with a United Kingdom/Indian joint venture in India advising them on the setting up of two precision hand tool manufacturing plants.
Robert has worked with a wide range of businesses and organisations across New Zealand that include both small and medium sized enterprises and with regional and Government organisations. Much of the work that he has undertaken has focussed on the development and commercialisation of new innovative ideas.
